Discipline Based Education Research survey – Please share and complete

Helen Cramman

Are you from a STEM discipline and are involved, or would like to be involved, in Discipline Based Education Research?
If so, we want to hear from you. Please complete our survey to understand how we can best support you and grow Discipline Based Education Research in the UK.

You are invited to take part in a study that is being conducted to understand the current landscape of Discipline Based Education Research (DBER) in STEM disciplines in the UK. We are aiming to raise the profile and advocate for greater resourcing and support for DBER research in the UK.

For the purposes of this study, we define Discipline Based Education Research (DBER) as
“research that investigates learning and teaching in a discipline using a range of methods with deep grounding in the discipline’s priorities, worldview, knowledge, and practices. DBER seeks to develop evidence-based knowledge and practices that improve teaching and learning in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.” (Henderson, 2017)

DBER may be seen described as Physics Education Research, Chemistry Education Research, STEM Education Research, Practice based research etc.

We want to be able to share the scale of DBER in the UK, to understand how colleagues have developed their skills to get to where they are, understand where future development needs lie and to build a connected interdisciplinary DBER community.

Find out more and complete the survey at the link below.

Thank you for your time and support to grow DBER in the UK.
Please do share with your networks and any one else that you think would be interested.
