Title: Student generated content with PeerWise
Abstract: Over the course of an undergraduate degree, we ask students to answer hundreds of assessment questions that we write for them. But how many times do we ask them to write assessment questions themselves? In this talk I will discuss doing just that, using a free online system called PeerWise. I will briefly describe how PeerWise functions, and how we have used it to allow our students to generate their own question content. I will discuss what the students did, the kinds of questions they generated, and implications for learning and assessment literacy. I will conclude by offering suggestions for how student generated content can be effectively incorporated into courses.
